Mojokerto, Al-Amin – The Mojokerto City Government, through the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), in collaboration with the Disaster Preparedness Cadets (Tagana), held the Tagana Enters Islamic Boarding Schools (TAMATREN) 2026 program at the Al-Amin Mojokerto Female Islamic Boarding School on Tuesday (July 21, 2026). The female students participated in the activity as an effort to improve their knowledge and skills in responding to emergency situations, particularly fires.
The Mayor of Mojokerto, Ika Puspitasari, also known as Ning Ita, was present at the event. Also in attendance were officials from the Mojokerto City Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag), BPBD leaders, and Tagana personnel. In her remarks, Ning Ita emphasized the importance of building a culture of disaster preparedness within the Islamic boarding school environment.
According to her, Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) are environments inhabited by many students, so an understanding of disaster mitigation and management needs to be instilled early on. She also emphasized that fire is one of the potential hazards that must be monitored in urban environments.
"Preparedness is part of our endeavor and a manifestation of our concern for ourselves and others. Through this education and simulation, we want to develop students who are responsive and alert when facing danger," said Ning Ita.
In the TAMATREN 2026 activity, students not only received material on disasters but also participated in emergency response practices. The material covered safe evacuation procedures, an introduction to portable fire extinguishers (APAR), and simple techniques for extinguishing small fires using APARs and wet cloths.
The students were also given the opportunity to practice firefighting procedures firsthand. The simulation is expected to provide real-world experience so that students not only understand the theory but also know the appropriate actions to take when facing an emergency.
One student admitted to gaining new experience through the activity. "I'm happy to have gained this new knowledge about how to handle fires," he said.
Through this activity, it is hoped that the students will have the knowledge, preparedness, and basic skills to face disasters. This education is also part of an effort to develop students who not only excel in religious and academic fields, but also are responsive, independent, and able to benefit their surroundings.
